The Golden area boasts mountain biking trails galore. From wide paths along meandering valleys to steep switchbacking technical tracks - there is something for novice and expert alike.
On the bench opposite Mount 7 Lodges are the Moonraker and Dawn Mountain trail systems – a great mix of single track and old roads. Ranging from short rolling trails to the premier Canyon Creek Trail – 17 kilometres of flat roads, some climbs and the stunning single track section a few metres from the edge of the 500 ft canyon.
For downhill enthusiasts, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort offers 3700 feet of vertical. Accessed by a gondola ride to the top you are then greeted with a wide range of downhill trails – from the flowing 10km of service road for beginners to the steep black diamond trails where experts can enjoy rock slabs, drops and stunts.
Above the lodges, the Mount 7 network has become a downhill mecca. With over 4,500 vertical feet of shuttle or heli-access riding, it is the prime place for big bikes. There are a couple of quality intermediate alternatives down Mount 7, but the majority of trails require a minimum of expert ability.
